Annual singles matchplay knock-outs

The annual Singles matchplay knock-out competition takes place every Spring/Summer prior to the annual presentation night in August.

The draw is made at the start of the season and is laid out for the entire competition - so that players can see who they meet in every subsequent round.

Dates are set for completion of each round and the onus is on players to agree a venue, day and time to play their match.

Matches are usually over 18 holes although players have the choice of agreeing a variation of the matchplay format to suit themselves. They may choose to play 9 holes at one course and the other 9 at a different course.

Finalists have the option of playing over 18 holes or playing over 36 holes if they both wish to play at their 'home' course.

Decided matches do not need to play out 18 holes (e.g. if a player has won 4 & 3 then the match can end there).

Matches must be decided on the scheduled day. No replays. Players should agree a method of deciding the match in the event of a tie after 18 holes. They can choose to play an agreed number of extra holes,  "sudden death", an agreed form of count back, or any other agreed method of deciding the match.
